Labor Day Schedule

City offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. City offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Here's the information on the revised garbage and recycling schedule for Sept. 6-10. The revised schedule for residential routes will be as follows: Monday’s route will run on Tuesday, Sept. 7; Tuesday and Wednesday routes will run on Wednesday, Sept. 8; Thursday and Friday routes will operate on the same schedule. The revised schedule for commercial businesses with garbage cans or rollout containers is:Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Sept. 7; The rest of the week will operate on a regular schedule.

Statesville Electric Crew Heads to Lafayette LA

Last week, Statesville Electric crews were headed north to assist with Hurricane Henri; this weekend, they’re traveling south to Lafayette, LA, where Hurricane Ida is projected to make landfall Sunday as a Category 4 storm with 50 to 100 mph winds and 4 to 6 inches of rain. SVL will be helping the Lafayette Utilities System for the second time in less than a year. Last October, a crew traveled to Lafayette to help with power restoration after Hurricane Delta caused extensive damage in the same area.
