Masks Required Inside City Buildings
Posted on 08/26/2021
Wear a maskIn response to CDC guidance and recommendations from local health officials, and to help save lives and prevent massive outbreaks of the virus, the City of Statesville is requiring that, beginning at midnight on Friday, August 27, 2021, all persons must wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, inside any City facility.

This includes City Hall, the City Office Building and Customer Service area, all Recreation centers, and the Statesville Civic Center. Currently, the fire and police stations are closed to the public.

Statesville employees will also be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, when on-site.

City Manager Ron Smith said these measures will remain in effect through September 17, 2021, while his office continues to monitor the situation and determine if modifications are needed.

At this time, there are no restrictions on the number of persons allowed inside a public building, but employees and the public are encouraged to socially distance (six feet apart) when inside.

The Customer Service area is open to persons wearing a mask, but utility customers are urged to make their payments online at utilities.statesvillenc.net or by phone at 704-878-3564. Utility bill payments can be mailed or placed in the drop box versus paying in person.

The public is encouraged to avoid entering city buildings and should use the phone or email for city-related business. For a directory, call 704-878-3550 or visit the City’s website at www.statesvillenc.net.

Smith added, “The City has been in regular contact with local, state and national officials regarding COVID-19 and its impact on our community. We will continue to monitor this situation and make decisions as they are needed, and we’ll keep you informed. Please visit the City’s website and follow us on social media for additional updates.

“We do encourage you to call or email if you have questions about any city service at 704-878-3586 or info@statesvillenc.net. Please know that we are very grateful for your help in keeping our community safe and healthy.”
