Public Power Week
Posted on 10/07/2021
Public Power WeekEvery morning in Statesville, thousands of residents turn on the stove to prepare breakfast, while dozens of industries flip a switch to start their operations, and businesses across the City cut on the power to light up their “open” sign in the window.

Public Power Week is a great time to remind customers that the City of Statesville Electric Utility Department is proud to be a part of this community year-round. Mayor Costi Kutteh proclaimed Oct. 3-9 as Public Power Week in Statesville, presenting the proclamation to Travis Campbell, Operations Manager and Jamie Bishop and Josh Sigmon, crew foremen.

Statesville is the oldest public power community in North Carolina and one of many public power cities and towns that have been electric providers for more than 100 years. Statesville Electric Utility is city-owned and reflects the hometown characteristics and values of our community. Its mission every day is to provide customers with safe, reliable, not-for-profit electricity at a reasonable price while protecting the environment.
