Iredell Arts Council Celebrates Diversity & Inclusion at 2nd Annual Street Concert

Iredell, NC - May 8, 2024 - The Iredell Arts Council is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated 2nd Annual Street Concert on May 11th, promising an evening filled with electrifying performances and vibrant community spirit. This year's event will feature the sensational sounds of Cha Wa, straight from the bustling streets of New Orleans.

Kicking off the festivities will be the local sensation, Insomniacs, delivering their infectious rap and R&B beats to set the stage at 5:00 PM. Following their lead at 6:00 PM, prepare to be transported to the heart of New Orleans as Cha Wa takes the spotlight.

Cha Wa is not just a band; they are a force of nature, seamlessly blending the infectious beats of brass bands with the rich tradition of Mardi Gras Indians. Their music pulsates with energy and passion, reflecting the vibrant spirit of their hometown.

Their latest album, "My People," stands as a testament to resilience and joy, earning them a Grammy nomination. Each track is imbued with the essence of New Orleans, from funky rhythms to soulful lyrics. Drummer Joe Gelini describes their music as inherently about freedom, a message that resonates deeply in today's world.

Aside from the spectacular music lineup, attendees of the event can indulge in the delectable offerings from Ember Craft Fusion and Kreyol Flavors food trucks, along with the refreshing brews from Red Buffalo Brewing, all conveniently available onsite.
