The City of Statesville continues to move forward with the emergency infrastructure repair at Tradd and E. Front Street, aimed at restoring and replacing critical sanitary and storm sewer systems. This project will not only address an underground failure but also improve safety and reduce flooding risk in the area.
As of April 9, 2025, the formal bid advertisement for the project was issued and will remain posted for the required 9-day period. This marks a key step in the emergency repair process, allowing the city to move efficiently toward selecting a qualified contractor.

Upcoming Project Timeline
*Note: The city is hoping to receive three or more bids in order to proceed with the May 2 opening as scheduled. If fewer than three are received, the bid will need to be extended by 7–10 additional days, at which time all bids will be opened and read. Once a winner is selected, city staff will present the bid to Council for approval at the next regular meeting.
Once the contract is executed, the selected contractor will submit the required bonds, and the City will issue a formal Notice to Proceed. While this phase typically takes about three weeks, the city will work as quickly as possible to move through this process and minimize any delays. After receiving the Notice to Proceed, the contractor will have 45 calendar days to complete the work.

Statesville, NC – March 27, 2025 – The intersection of S. Tradd Street and E. Front Street in Downtown Statesville has once again been temporarily closed due to an infrastructure issue caused by aging utility lines beneath the roadway.
While this may feel like déjà vu for some downtown visitors and businesses, the City of Statesville and Downtown Statesville Development Corporation (DSDC) are working proactively – together with the Statesville Chamber of Commerce – to not only address the repair swiftly but also support downtown businesses throughout the process.
