The Statesville Fire Department (SFD) is known for its dedication to protecting the safety and well-being of our community. Behind the scenes, ensuring that SFD meets the highest standards of excellence, is Samantha Moose, our Fire Accreditation Manager. Samantha plays a pivotal role in maintaining the department's accreditation status through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), ensuring our department operates at its very best.

What Does a Fire Accreditation Manager Do?

Samantha’s role as Fire Accreditation Manager is multifaceted and essential. She oversees the department’s self-assessment and accreditation renewal processes, ensuring that SFD adheres to the rigorous standards set by CFAI. She is responsible for maintaining accreditation by aligning the department’s practices with CFAI standards, revising departmental directives, and conducting inspections of personnel and facilities. Her work involves gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support strategic planning, performance measures, and policy formation. Additionally, Samantha coordinates efforts to improve the department's Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, which benefits residents with better insurance rates. She also trains staff to meet accreditation requirements and addresses compliance issues efficiently.

Why Accreditation Matters

Accreditation is a mark of excellence for fire departments, demonstrating a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and continuous improvement. It ensures that the department remains proactive in meeting the needs of the community while maintaining high professional standards. As part of this process, Samantha manages the department’s ongoing adherence to CFAI standards, prepares for on-site evaluations, and resolves compliance issues effectively. Her role is critical in ensuring that the department is always prepared for both routine operations and unexpected challenges.

A Vital Role in a Dedicated Team

Samantha’s work directly impacts the department’s ability to serve the community effectively. By maintaining accreditation and ensuring compliance with high standards, she helps position SFD as a leader in fire service excellence. Her efforts support both the department’s mission and the safety of the Statesville community.
