City of Statesville to Participate in “Two Lights for Tomorrow” National Commemoration
The City of Statesville will join communities across North Carolina and the nation in participating in the Two Lights for Tomorrow initiative on April 18, 2025, a national moment of unity in advance of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Inspired by Paul Revere’s historic midnight ride and the lantern signal hung in Boston’s Old North Church—"one if by land, two if by sea"—Two Lights for Tomorrow encourages towns, schools, courthouses, and households to display two lights as a symbol of remembrance, unity, and our shared commitment to the common good.
As part of the statewide effort led by America 250 NC, the City of Statesville will display two symbolic lights at City Hall on the evening of April 18, 2025. Mayor Constantine H. Kutteh has issued a proclamation in support of this national observance and encourages all residents to participate.
City of Statesville Proclaims April 20-26, 2025 as National Volunteer Week
In honor of National Volunteer Week, the City of Statesville NC encourages residents to take action and become involved in community service through events such as the 2025 Spring Trash Bash, a citywide cleanup initiative taking place on Saturday, April 26, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Litter Sweep program.
The City believes in the power of volunteerism to inspire change, foster civic responsibility, and build a stronger and more connected city for all. The full proclamation can be found here or learn more about the Spring Trash Bash here.
City of Statesville Proclaims April 20-26, 2025 National Infertility Awareness Week
At the City of Statesville City Council meeting this week, Mayor Kutteh also proclaimed April 20 - April 26, 2025 as National Infertility Awareness Week.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 7 women experience difficulty becoming pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term.
Increasing public awareness of infertility and the challenges faced by those pursuing family building options is an important step toward breaking down barriers and providing support.
The City of Statesville recognizes the importance of supporting individuals and families impacted by infertility and encourages open conversations, education, and compassion in our community. Read the proclamation here.
