The City of Statesville is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Kurfees as the new Fire Chief of the Statesville Fire Department, effective immediately. The decision was made by City Manager Ron Smith, who believes Kurfees' extensive experience and dedication to public safety make him an ideal fit for the role.

City Manager Smith expressed his confidence in Kurfees, stating, "We are fortunate to have a well-trained and experienced fire professional who can step right in and focus on the department." With over 18 years of valuable experience, Kurfees has been an integral part of the Statesville Fire Department since joining in July 2005.

Throughout his career, Kurfees has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong commitment to the department's mission. His previous role as Deputy Fire Chief for the past three years has provided him with a deep understanding of the department's operations and contributed to its growth and success. Kurfees began his journey in the fire service at the Monticello Volunteer Fire Department at the young age of 16 and later progressed from a firefighter to Deputy Chief at the West Iredell Volunteer Fire Department.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the department, Kurfees stated, "I am aware of the trust and responsibility that comes with this position, and I am committed to upholding the exceptional standards this position requires." He emphasized his dedication to the community's safety and well-being, pledging to provide the highest level of service to those in need.

Kurfees shared his vision for the department, which includes a focus on continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. Recognizing the incredible talent within the department, he intends to work closely with his team to ensure they have the necessary resources, training, and support to excel in their roles. Kurfees aims to enhance emergency response capabilities, prioritize firefighter safety and wellness, and foster meaningful partnerships with the community.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Kurfees cherishes his family life with his wife, Selena, and their two daughters, Abigail and Ella.

The City of Statesville extends its warmest congratulations to Glenn Kurfees on his appointment as Fire Chief. The City looks forward to witnessing his leadership and the positive impact he will bring to the Statesville Fire Department.
