The Water/Sewer Maintenance Division is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining the City of Statesville's water and sewer infrastructure.

This Division currently maintains approximately 290 miles of water lines and 437 miles of sanitary sewer lines. The lengths of these lines will continue to grow overtime to meet the demands of new commercial and residential construction projects as they are built within the City's limits.

The City's water supply is processed at the water treatment plant distribution lines carry the treated water from the plant and branch out to service homes and businesses within the City's limits. Keeping these distribution lines clean and functioning properly is a vital step in the process of ensuring all city residents have an undisrupted flow of fresh water.

The City's sewer lines work in reverse as compared to the City's water lines. The sewer lines carry raw sewage from the homes and business to a processing plant where it is then treated. The majority of these lines use gravity flow to drain the sewage due to costly maintenance and equipment to force sewage up hill. Each of these sewer lines connect to larger lines which eventually connect to Third Creek or Fourth Creek Waste Water Treatment Plants. Depending where your home or business is located determines which plant your sewer line will drain to. Ensuring these sewer lines maintain functional is essential to the health and quality of life of Statesville's Residents.
